Vital Diagnostics manufacturers and markets a range of routine and specialized Haemostasis products for detection and monitoring of blood clotting disorders.

Routine products

Our product offering include routine PT and APTT reagents as well as quality control plasmas for these assays.

Our VitaClot PT reagent is a recombinant thromboplastin used for the determination of the prothrombin time (PT), the INR (International Normalised Ratio) and the activity of factors II, V, VII and X. VitaClot PT is a ready to use liquid reagent, with an ISI close to 1.0.

Vital Diagnostics offers both lupus resistant (LR) and lupus sensitive (LS) APTT reagents for the screening of abnormalities in the intrinsic pathway. Containing additional phospholipids, VitaClot APTT LR is less sensitive to lupus inhibitors and is a reliable reagent for factor assays. The VitaClot APTT LS reagent provides a high sensitivity to lupus anticoagulants (LA).

VitaPlas coagulation controls are quality control reference plasmas for use in Prothrombin Time (PT), Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT) and Thrombin Time (TT) test systems. VitaPlas 1 represents near normal plasma after reconstitution, where as VitaPlas 2 and VitaPlas 3 represent low and high level abnormal plasmas. VitaPlas 2 and VitaPlas 3 quality control plasmas typically exhibit low and high fibrinogen levels respectively.

VitaCal INR Calibrators are lyophilized assayed plasmas for the determination of the International Sensitivity Index (ISI) and Mean Normal Prothrombin time (MNPT) for specific reagent / instrument combinations. Simple to use, they can be used by laboratories to standardise thromboplastin reagents and to minimise instrument to instrument variability.

Specialised products

Vital Diagnostics also manufacturers niche products for specialised coagulation testing. These products include VitaClot SACT (Surface Activated Clotting Time) and the Collagen Binding Assay (CBA).

The VitaClot SACT is essentially an APTT test using alumino-silicate as a contact factor, which can be used as a broad screening assay for detection of lupus anticoagulants (phospholipid “interfering” antibodies). VitaClot SACT is a low turbidity, ready to use, liquid reagent which can be automated on most coagulation analysers.

The Collagen Binding Assay is an enzyme immunoassay for the qualitative determination of Von Willebrand Factor (VWF) function in human plasma. In type II disease, VWF is present but it lacks high molecular weight multimers which bind strongly to Collagen.  Used in conjunction with a VWF antigen assay, the Collagen Binding assay can be used to differentiate between Von Willebrand Type I and Type II.
