Clotting assays have been used within laboratories to identify the risk of bleeding states, as well as monitor anticoagulants such as Warfarin and Heparin.

Accuracy of these assays is critical, so to ensure this, Vital Diagnostics have produced quality control material intended to verify the usage of utilised test systems within the laboratory.

An ideal quality control plasma provides the laboratory with a near normal plasma, as well as abnormal plasmas representing lower and higher degrees of abnormality. It would also be sourced from a pool of at least 20 healthy individuals, which can be inconvenient for routine work. VitaPlas® provides you with an ideal replacement.

We can provide your laboratory with a Haematology control that will provide consistent quality control reference values in Prothrombin Time (PT), Activated Partial Thromboplastin Time (APTT), Thrombin Time (TT) and most other tests of haemostatic function.

These controls are provided in a convenient, lyophilized (with open vial stability of 48 hours), colour coded 10x1mL format. VitaPlas® 1 (VP1) provides a near normal plasma after reconstitution, whereas VitPlas® 2 (VP2) and 3 (VP3) are abnormal plasmas representing lower and higher degrees of abnormality.

And as a special service, for large batches, we can make abnormal plasmas to your specification (INR and APTT only).
